Baby Gates for Security

Those of us with children know that a baby or toddler can get into anything in an instant. It goes without saying that you simply can’t take your eyes off the little people for more than a second without them finding their way into something you wish they had left alone.

If you have an older baby you know how important that it is to take steps to keep them safe. Children are fascinated by things they’ve not tried yet. A fall down a full flight of steps can be deadly to a baby or a toddler, yet we often, in the interest of convenience don’t secure those areas so that they can’t get to them.

Many people today use security or toddler gates on the top of the steps to prevent a fall down, them, but the odds are that we’ve not considered how easily our toddler could make their way up the steps and then fall back down.

Babies and children are also fascinated by water. The reality is that as small as they are, it’s easily accomplished for them to fall into a bathtub or even into a toilet and be unable to get back out. Baby gates can prevent a variety of mishaps and should be used where ever there is something that may intrigue your little one enough to want to explore it further.

Keeping your baby secure from all kinds of danger is important. Your role as a parent is to protect them from those things they can’t protect themselves from. Many people neglect baby gates at the stairs, leading down to a basement or across a bathroom door simply because they need to either open it or step over it. Is the inconvenience that you may have to go through worth the life of your child?

Gating various areas of your house isn’t convenient. No one will argue that it’s a pain in the neck on the best day, but the alternative simply isn’t worth it. If you’ve got a little one who loves to explore, getting a baby gate in place is the best idea you’ve ever had.

A few places where a gate might be a wise choice:
- Across the bathroom door
- At the entry to your basement
- Across a screen door when the main home door is open (This actively prevents your toddler from leaving if they push the handle and the door opens)
- Your laundry Room.
