Over the course of the year we all hit times when we’d like to make a few extra dollars. If you’re a crafter of any kind the opportunity is there for you to make some extra money while doing what you love. The fact is though that the cost is sometimes excessive for the supplies that you need to make the things you enjoy doing.
With the advent of the internet fortunately we have the opportunity to select some of the best supplies out there at a price that we can afford. Many of the major crafting supply stores now feature showcases of their products online, and when you shop there, you will find that you can also purchase from what’s called a “bargain” area, that may give you pricing that you can’t get in the physical stores.
In addition to this, the online stores that you have to select from are far broader a selection than you might have gained from anywhere that you could access locally. This gives you the opportunity to compare pricing in a way that you might not have been able to just a few years in the past.
In addition to purchasing online and comparison shopping to find the things that you want for your crafting hobbies, the options are also there for you to seek out new stores in your local area that you might not have considered previously.
Another way to save money on crafting supplies in your local area is to visit the multiple crafting stores such as Michaels or Hobby Lobby, both of whom have several aisles dedicated to discontinued or on sale items that are sold for as much as 75% off of the normal prices.
These items range from wood working, to painting, to plaster and soap making supplies and quite often will give you a significantly lower price on items that you may use in your crafting every day.
Buying a larger supply when an item is on sale only makes good sense. The same holds true for discontinued items. Purchasing these in a larger supply may cost you a little more right now, but over time you’re going to save on your hobby in a big way.
Shopping in bulk when items are on sale, or shopping online and comparing notes about what online stores will offer you the lowest shipping along with the lowest prices will keep you crafting longer for a lower cost.
