Saving Money on Your Wedding

The cost of a wedding can run into the thousands of dollars. Getting the cost down under control and preventing yourself and your future partner from entering into your marriage more deeply in debt due to the wedding costs is the first order of the day.

There are multiple ways to save money on your wedding. Doing a few of the things yourself to save the money is one thing you can do but there are several other methods of cutting the costs for your wedding and the parties and dinners that come along with it.

- Consider renting your wedding gown or using a vintage gown that may have belonged to your mother or grandmother. The cost of having the gown altered to fit you will still be far less than the cost of the new gown. In addition you will quite likely make another family member very happy. As a general rule, the wedding gown may be worn once or twice in your lifetime. Renting a gown or getting a pre-worn gown will save a lot and still permit you to wear the gown of your dreams on your wedding day.

- Save money by getting crafty to make your own favors for the wedding or your own centerpieces. Making your own wedding table favors will save literally hundreds of dollars on the cost of the decorations. Recruit the help of your attendants and get the centerpiece decorations for a lot less money

In addition to these ways to save money, you might elect to keep your wedding list to a minimum. For each person that you do not invite quite frankly you will save on decorations, food, favors and several other things. Keeping your list to under 100 will save a vast amount on the overall cost of your wedding.

Overall you can save many thousands of dollars on the cost of a wedding simply by doing part of the work yourself and still have the wedding of your dreams for a lot less money.
