Lighting up the outside of your house is a very important aspect of setting up complete home security. Some of us it seems don’t quite have the hang of things. It seems that the brighter the better isn’t exactly the way it’s supposed to go when you’re installing security lights.
Outdoor security lights are better when you give yourself just enough light to actually work by. You would think that lighting up the property better at night would be a real means to deter theft, but a well-studied thief knows that you’ve just given him a real bonus.
Lighting up the outside world thoroughly on the paths, walkways, long driveways and other things such as porches and stairs make you and your guests feel more secure and they do prevent accidents in many cases. Those very bright lights can also make it a little easier to get robbed.
Burglars like very bright lights. They make them feel safe and it’s often easier for them to get a hiding spot on your property. The security lighting that is the most easy to pick out an intruder in is the medium strong security lighting.
Enveloping the outside of your residence with 200 watt bulbs offers great shadow play, and because they are so bright, those shadows are very dark in comparison. The lights also have the added effect of rendering you unable to see as well since your eyes will take some time to adjust to the lights that you flooded your yard with.
This gives your burglar a lot better chance of either hiding or getting away. When you add security lights to your outside, make them medium brightness. That will keep your home more secure and enable you to see better to discern who or what might be in the shadows. Your eyes will adjust more rapidly and you will be more secure in the long range.
